August 22 , 2018
Hall 1, Leisure Lodge, Ukunda, Kenya
Slots available: 29
FATE is easily and quickly learnt and can be applied in all clinical scenarios: preoperatively, intraoperatively, intensive and emergency settings. This workshop is a simple and effective roadmap to learn how to perform and interpret cardiographic findings and put them into the clinical context. The Kenya Society of Anaesthesiologists (KSA) and Critical Care Society of Kenya (CCSK) in conjuction with University of Cape Town (UCT) will host the FATE as one of its 26th KSA and 6th CCSK Pre-Conference Workshops.
To provide the non cardiologist physicians with basic echocardiographic skills for cardiovascular optimization. This will include basic imaging views and M-mode for cardiac dimensions; right and left ventricular function.
All theory is provided according to the unique USABCD interactive e-learning concept including pre-test, learning modules and post-test. E-learning covers: introduction, equipment and skills, basic imaging views, M-mode, cardiac function and pathology. All e-learning modules must be completed prior to the workshop.
The following topics will be offered during the in groups of 4-5 participants.
1. Basic cardiac views, including IVC
3. Right and Left ventricular function
4. Basic clinical scenario training
5. Pleural scanning
No prior experience is required.
Physicians from all specialties dealing with hemodynamic problems e.g. Anesthesiologists, Intensivists, Emergency Physicians, Internal Medicine, Surgeons and General Practitioners.
